@mybmc Only Source?

A few days ago, I had illustrated a comic strip to show how difficult it is to get a slot for vaccination. It is more like a lucky draw lottery rather than booking a slot. But getting a slot booked on CoWin is not the only challenge the citizens are facing. The process to know when and how to book a slot and finally getting vaccinated is frustrating too.

Not many people are tech-savvy or on social media platforms to keep themselves updated and check the Twitter handle regularly to update themselves. Mumbai's civic authority who runs a Twitter handle @mybmc is helping the citizens by regularly tweeting the updates. Their updates not only includes the number of cases, availabilities of beds and oxygen cylinders, and replying to citizens queries, but also on the number of vaccine centers open, non-availability of vaccine stock, timings of the vaccine centers, and information on what time will the appointment slot booking be opened up for the citizens to book their slots.

A few days ago, while the BMC decided to open the appointment slots for the public at 7.30 pm daily. But every next day the timings are changed and the only source to find out the changed time is their Twitter handle.

There is no other source to find out changes in the time. In such a situation, a person between 18-44 years of age group, who does not know how to use Twitter, how is she/he supposed to know when should they book a slot for themselves? Especially when no walk-ins are allowed for this age group of citizens.

An even after this struggle of getting a slot booked, in case you feel that you are lucky, wait till the time to reach the hospital/vaccination center. Many a time even after booking the slot, people don't really get the vaccine at the vaccination center mainly because the centers are out of stock. The centers are closed because of the non-availability of the vaccines.

This strip is illustrated from a real life incident shared on the Twitter by one of the Mumbai resident. (illustrator: Anagha Sawant/@pick.a.doodle)

The moment you get your vaccine jab, only then feel good about the fact that you are truly LUCKY.
