Battling Mental Health

Every time a thought makes a buzz in our mind, it feels like a new google tab pops up inside our brain. The overwhelming thoughts which pop up result in overthinking which can't be controlled immediately. Overthinking further causes mental health issues such as depression, stress, anxiety.

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic situation has affected a lot of frontline workers, patients, family members, and long-distance relationships. Besides causing financial and physical constraints, the pandemic has affected people mentally too. In a recent news article, health experts stated that due to pandemic anxiety, people fear that they are going to die.

During a recent interaction with a young doctor, when I told her to draw something which she fears about, and one which she loves, the female doctor chose to write the word 'DEATH' in bold to show her fear. and later on, drew two people saving a person's life inside the alphabet 'D'. She explained, "Working as a frontline worker, I have seen a lot of people die due to the pandemic and my biggest fear these days is 'DEATH'. The one thing which I love is to save people's life."

It is difficult to deal with mental health issues, but taking one step at a time to come out of it and helping each other, is a need of an hour.

We need to focus on positive emotions and let go of negative thoughts from our minds.

If someone wishes to donate for the mental health counseling of frontline workers, here is the link of a non-profit organization working for them: https://milaap.org/fundraisers/support-covid-workers

They are raising funds to provide our COVID-19 workers with access to therapy, support groups, and an emergency helpline.
